1. I am just getting into the apparel side of this business and been reading like crazy. There is so much to learn. I haven't found where it says what size people do for numbers on the back of say a baseball jersey. They will be mostly double digit numbers on adult male jerseys. Also the font he was looking at has a tail under it.
  2. Names and numbers are spaced perfectly and are heat pressed into the jersey. The heat press melts the vinyl into the jersey for a durable finished product. Advantages: - The ability to create names, numbers, and designs on a computer and have them immediately cut and applied to a jersey makes this the most popular and the least expensive option.

First, a quick lesson on fonts. There are two main font styles: serif and sans serif.

  1. A serif font has short lines at the ends of the letters, making it look less blocky, one of the most popular serif fonts that you might know is Times.
  2. Sans serif fonts are just that–a font “sans” or without serif. A common sans serif font is Arial.

Pairing Fonts

Letters

An important design element for custom gear is pairing multiple fonts. Finding two unique fonts that work together will make your design look clean and professional. You’ll see in our graphic below some of our favorite sports fonts to pair together.

For a classic sports look, pair College B with Veneer Solid. The blockiness of College B will remind you of traditional sports apparel, and Veneer Solid works with it to give it a modern and trendy look. Consider using College B for your team’s name and Veneer Solid for your subhead such as “women’s league” or “intramural soccer.”

Playing a less traditional sport like broom ball or ultimate frisbee? Give your uniforms a one of a kind look by pairing Bullet Small with Bank Gothic. Bullet Small has a futuristic vibe with varying letters in uppercase and lowercase. Because it’s so unique, a modern but simple sans serif font like Bank Gothic is the perfect complement for your design.
